Sister Louise McDonald, C.S.J., age 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at St. John of God Retirement Center in Los Angeles, CA. She was born March 18, 1941, the oldest of five children, in Los Angeles, CA. Graduating from Alemany high school in 1959, she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, the following September. She was a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 64 years.

Louise served in a variety of ministries throughout her years including teacher, respiratory therapist, hospital chaplain and peace and justice advocate. Her heart's desire was always to "turn beyond herself to serve a world in need" as a missionary. She discovered that each ministry has within it the element of mission.

She is survived by her nephew John McDonald, niece Erin McDonald Gavin, many cousins, their siblings and children.

A Zoom Service of Remembrance will take place April 23, 2024. If you wish to receive the link please contact smninteman@csjla.org. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated April 24, 2024 at 10AM at Carondelet Center, 11999 Chalon Road, Los Angeles, CA 90049. Please RSVP to 310-889-2100 if you plan to attend. Interment will follow at 1:30PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 W. Slauson Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230.
