Andrew Lachman, a business and ethics attorney, parent, former Congressional staff member, chair of Culver City's Finance Advisory Committee and prominent member of Culver City's Jewish community announced his candidacy for Culver City Unified School District.

"I'm running for Culver City Unified School Board to focus on the best interests of the Culver City students, support teachers and staff, and create a safe and supportive environment where every student can thrive no matter their background or how they learn," said Lachman.

"We need a strong, independent voice on the school board that will bring us together and focus on our students, not ideology or personalities. We don't spend enough in our classrooms or supporting our teachers, students don't feel safe or supported and we need to make sure that our bond money is spent on the classroom infrastructure which has been failing after over a decade of neglect" Lachman continued.

A parent of a fifth grader at El Marino Elementary (who also attended El Rincon Elementary as well). Lachman has served on the CCUSD Equity Advisory Committee, Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Committee and Bond Feasibility Committee where he advocated for greater communication and input from teachers and parents. Lachman has been a business, privacy and ethics attorney in his own firm and in-house for over fifteen years and taught business law as an adjunct professor at Woodbury University. Previously he was Legislative Director for Congressman Ted Lieu and Staff Consultant to the California Legislative Joint Committee on the Arts.

As a Trustee at Temple Akiba and an alumni of the Jewish Federation New Leaders Project and the Anti-Defamation League's Glass Leadership Program, he has been an advocate for combating antisemitism and worked to bring the Muslim and Jewish communities together to advocate for inclusion of their major religious observances on the school calendar.

Lachman is off to a strong start, having raised nearly $35,000 for the race and receiving endorsements from a broad set of community and elected leaders including Congressman Ted Lieu, several former school board and council members, as well as parents and activists from across the city.
