Some of the best high school track and field stars in the nation will compete in the prestigious Arcadia Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Culver City High School Centaurs will have several athletes competing against the best.
Unfortunately, Culver City's fastest girl runner, Joelle Trepagnier suffered a slight injury last week so she will not be competing, but the girls still have the second fastest sprinter in the school, Morgan Maddox to "hold down the fort" according to Culver City's head coach Jahmal Wright. Maddox will run in the invitational 200 and 400 meters.
On the boys' side Kingston Waring will compete in the 300-meter hurdles and the team of Zytel Boyd, Dominic Batiste, Dante Mayrant and James Wright will be running the 4X100 meter relay and the team of Dante Mayrant, Duaine Mayrant, Asher Samuel and Waring will compete in the 4X400 meter relay. The 4X400 team is one of the fastest in the state. The Culver City runners will be competing during the day on Saturday and Saturday night.
In other Culver City High School sports action, the baseball team is currently 13-4 and their next game league home game is Friday, April 12, at 3:30 p.m. against Peninsula. The boys' lacrosse team is currently 2-6 and their next match is at El Segundo on Monday, April 15, at 5:30 p.m.
The boys' volleyball team is 2-12 and their next match is at Palos Verdes on April 10, at 3:15 p.m. they will also be hosting their own Tournament on Saturday on the Culver City High School campus starting at 8 a.m.
The girl lacrosse team is 1-6 and they have a home match against Beverly Hills on April 10, at 3:30 p.m. the girls' softball team is 7-8 and their next game is against Santa Monica at home at 3:30 p.m. and the boys tennis team has a home match against Palos Verdes on April 11, at 2:30 p.m.
