A resident of Mar Vista Gardens was shot dead Wednesday night, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 10:40 p.m. at the housing project, located in the 5000 block of Marionwood Drive (near Braddock Drive), Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.

The resident, whose name was not released, may have been a victim of a gang-related shooting, police said. He was found shot at the apartment complex and taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

A suspect was seen driving away from the area, police said. No suspect or vehicle descriptions were immediately available.
