September 8, 2016

West Los Angeles College started the 2016 football season off with an offensive explosion when they beat rival Santa Monica College 47-34 last Saturday on the West Los Angeles campus.

"We battled hard and I like the way we competed," said West Los Angeles head coach Marguet Miller after the win. "We beat a good team but we also need to make sure we don't beat ourselves. We have to improve on not turning the ball over."

West Los Angeles' next home game will be Saturday, September 17 at 1 p.m. against College of the Desert and they have another home game the following Saturday at 1 p.m. against Victor Valley.

Last Saturday West Los Angeles had several offensive stars but none bigger than wide receiver Daniel Bell, caught five passes for 101 yards which included two touchdowns.

West L.A.'s offensive line did a great job protecting quarterback Jorge Reyna who threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns. The line opened big holes for running back Jayden Dillard who gained 185 yards on 11 carries.

West L.A.'s offense had 637 yards, 321 rushing and 316 passing.
