‘Where’s The Brotherhood?’

A lesson in humility to the Laker players.

Do you really think what the team is going through is a coincidence?

Please allow me to share my humble point of view about the source of their current predicament.

Let’s simplify the story by going back to basics.

What is teamwork? “All for one and one for all,” supporting each other, encouraging each other with high fives, pats on the behind for good work, smiles, and enthusiastic words of praise. What is it to help and care for each other? It is the desire to assist each other to look better on the court. But it is more than that. It is having each other’s backs: the selfless service for the unity of the team as one force. This is not where the Lakers are at today.

Here is a big lesson my super stars: return to simplicity. Return to the spirit of the game you played on your neighborhood courts, to the roots of your relationship with the sport. It seems as you have forgotten where you came from. You’ve lost your humility.

Brotherhood is the basis of a successful team. Don’t let your egos overtake your spirit. As a spectator, it seems to me you all have lost the joy, passion, and magic of the game when played with teamwork. You are the Dream Team. There is no doubt that together you can break all records with your combined talents.

When I look at the Lakers today, I see fear. Each player closed in his own box. Contracted and apathetic, the hustle is largely missing. The only way to overcome this obstacle is to go beyond politics. You must lose sight of the illusion of separate interests.

Slough off the destructive power of ego which separates you from the spark, faith and trust that is teamwork

Go beyond the din that is the media machine. Don’t listen to the noise. Focus on working together.

Combined for one purpose, moving as one unit, brothers in arms and heart, nothing can stop you. All is not lost. You are all talented and excellent players in your own right. All that is needed is to return to the principles of trust. Trust each other. Love each other. You are not the enemy. Don’t treat each other as if you are. Be accomplices in greatness and learn this lesson bravely. Demonstrate to the world how the power of brotherhood can overcome the darkness of ego. Take it from ET: “Be Good.”
