City Council Highlights

 

December 12, 2012



The City Counci l addressed the following items at the last council meeting for the year on Dec. 10:

• Allocated Funds in the amount of $44,100 for the 2013 Performing Arts Grant Program.

• Adopted a Resolution to Submit an Application for Competitive Tree Planting Grant Funds in the amount of $150,000.

• Awarded a Contract to Williams Pipeline Contractors for the Construction of Kerr Way Sewer Project in the amount of $38,900.

• Approved a Purchase Order with Landscape Forms Inc. for the Purchase of 77 Trash/Recycling Litter Receptacles in the amount of $126,933.

• Accepted the 2009 Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Call for Projects Grant Funding for Bus Signal Priority and Real-Time Bus Arrival Information System Projects in the amount of $2,751,000.

• Adopted an Ordinance Amending the Culver City Zoning Map and Established the Washington National Transit Oriented Development Planned Development Zone - No. 11. • Authorized Submission of a Grant Application through Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for a Compressed Natural Gas Bus Replacement Project.

• Adopted an Ordinance Amending the Culver City Zoning Map to Allow a Commercial Development with Retail, Restaurant and Office Uses Located at 8810-8850 Washington Boulevard and 3920 Landmark Street.

• Adopted a Resolution Confirming the Business Improvement District Advisory Board’s Annual Report and the Levy of the Downtown Culver City Business Improvement District Assessment for 2013; Appointed Members to the Business Improvement District Advisory Board for Calendar Year 2013; and Approved the Management Agreement between the City and the Downtown Business Association for Calendar Years 2013 and 2014.

• Adopted a Resolution Approving a General Plan Text and General Plan Map Amendment Amending the Land Use Element Regarding Public Parking Facilities; and Introduced an Ordinance Amending Title 17, Zoning, of the Culver City Municipal Code and the Culver City Zoning Map Regarding Alternative Parking Provisions and Establishing a Public Parking Facilities Zone and Zoning Code Map Amendment.

• Determined to Provide Additional In-Kind Financial Assistance Related to Parking for Taste of the Nation 2013 in the amount of $2,500.

• Approved the Installation of Shared Lane Markings (“Sharrows”) Along Sepulveda Boulevard from Culver Boulevard to the City-Limit Line South of Franklin Avenue.

• Approved a Trial Program and Creation of a Request for Proposals to Implement a Pilot Circulator (Shuttle) Service connecting the Culver City Exposition Light Rail Station, the Hayden Tract, and Downtown Culver City for an amount not to exceed $200,000.

• Adopted a City Council Policy Regarding Fee Reductions/Subsidies to Long-Term Regular Veterans’ Memorial Complex Users.

• Approved Creation of a City Council Appointed Fiesta La Ballona Committee and Adopted a Resolution Creating the Committee and Approving the Bylaws.

• Approved a Recommendation from the Ad-Hoc Legislation and Grants Subcommittee to Update the City’s Legislative Advocacy Program.
