Announce New Music Director-Conductors
In 2022-23, the Culver City Symphony Orchestra made musical news with its first full season since the pandemic and a major talent search for a new conductor. Each of the finalists for the position had an opportunity to conduct the Orchestra during the 2022-23 season, and each also conducted a Marina del Rey Summer Symphony concert in 2022 or 2023.
The Board of Directors of the SoCal Symphony Society is pleased to announce two new Music Director-Conductors:
Clyde Mitchell will be the Music Director-Conductor of the Culver City Symphony Orchestra, leading our winter season in the Robert Frost Auditorium and other Culver City venues.
Mitchell is the founding director of both the Lions Gate Sinfonia and the Lions Gate Youth Orchestra of North Vancouver Canada. He has been a guest conductor for all of Canada's major orchestras as well as engagements in Europe, Asia, South America and the United States while living in Southern California.
Steven Allen Fox will be the Music Director-Conductor of the
Marina del Rey Summer Symphony, leading our "Best of the Westside" summer concerts in Burton Chace Park.
Fox has an extensive background in conducting and composing for a wide range of musical styles including film scores and pop music. He is the founding Artistic Director/ Conductor of the Golden State Pops Orchestra and made his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut conducting the inaugural performance of the Los Angeles Film Orchestra. He has also conducted the San Francisco Symphony, City of Prague Philharmonic and Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife.
