UCLA'S SEBASTIAN MACK AMONG FINALISTS FOR NATIONAL FRESHMAN AWARD

Mack has been named as one of 25 finalists for an award sponsored by CollegeInsider.com

BOSTON – UCLA guard Sebastian Mack has been selected as one of 25 finalists for the 2023-24 Kyle Macy National Freshman of the Year Award, presented annually by CollegeInsider.com.

Mack was honored as one of five players selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team earlier this month, having averaged 12.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists through all 33 games for UCLA in 2023-24. He scored at least 10 points in 19 of the Bruins' 33 games, totaling a career-high 27 points in a home contest against CSUN on Dec. 19, 2023.

Mack finished with at least 20 points in five games during his freshman season. He had 21-point efforts in a loss at Arizona on Jan. 20 and in a road win against Stanford on Feb. 7. Mack also registered 25 points, shooting a perfect 13-for-13 at the free throw line, in the Bruins' 71-69 loss to No. 4-ranked Marquette in Honolulu on Nov. 20, 2023.

Hailing from Chicago, Ill., Mack was twice honored during the 2023-24 campaign as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week (Nov. 27, 2023 and Dec. 26, 2023). He is one of five freshmen in the Pac-12 to have been listed to the 25-man list of finalists for the national freshman award, joining USC's Isaiah Collier, Washington State's Myles Rice, Oregon's Jackson Shelstad and Colorado's Cody Williams.

Mack led all Pac-12 freshmen in free throws made (125) and free throws attempted (172), shooting nearly 73 percent from the free throw line through 33 games. He finished the season ranking sixth among all Pac-12 players in free throws made (125) and 11th in steals per game (1.3 spg).

The 2023-24 Kyle Macy National Freshman of the Year Award will be announced in Phoenix, in conjunction with the upcoming NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four.
