Diane Viscount Netzel passed peacefully in the morning hours of Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, March 4, 1941. In her 82 years of living, she touched the lives of so many through her philanthropic work, volunteering, mentoring and, most recently, organizing many activities in her senior retirement community in Reno, NV. After the announcement of her passing, there was a great outpouring of love from around the world that had a common thread. All those who loved Diane dearly will remember her for her kindness and how she was always looking out for others.
Her love of philanthropy started early. She attended George Williams College in Chicago, Illinois where she majored in group work education. Her career began with the Boys Clubs of America while attending college.
In 2006, Diane was honored by A Place Called Home with their "Girlz in the Hood" Hall of Fame Award for her work with young women in South Central Los Angeles. She served as a director of the Rotary Club of Los Angeles (LA5). She also served on the Board and Executive Committee of the Los Angeles Women's Foundation and was a co-founder of the Culver City Education Foundation. She was a member of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and served as Chair of National Philanthropy Day in Los Angeles in 1998.
Diane is preceded in death by parents Daniel and Ann. She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul, her son, Chip (Jill), her daughter, Shari Ann, and her cherished grandchildren, Michael and Rebecca; adored sister Gigi (Jim) Masserio; brother Ken (Linda) Viscount; brother Dan Viscount, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many, many friends.
A private service to celebrate Diane's life will be held by the immediate family at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Diane's name to the Rotary Club of Los Angeles Foundation, 1150 S.
