Hello to the Culver City Unified Community!

Today (yesterday) marks my first official day on the job as your new Superintendent, and I couldn't be more excited to get to work!

I started my day at some of our schools greeting students, staff, and parents as the day of exciting learning and making connections got underway. The smiles, enthusiastic 'welcomes', and kind greetings simply reinforced what I already know: Culver City Unified is an amazing place to learn and work!

My immediate goal will be to get to know this vibrant and diverse community through time spent listening and learning from staff, students, parents, and community members. Over my initial months, I look forward to building strong relationships, understanding our CCUSD context, and deepening an understanding of our successes and challenges. This 100-day entry plan (https://drive.google.com/.../1rx.../view) provides more details to my onboarding plans, which includes specific steps for reviewing the state of our finances.

Our success is already apparent through the hard work of our dedicated administrative, support, and instructional staff; our deep levels of support from our parents and community; our committed Board of Education; and our hard-working, spirited, and creative students. I look forward to celebrating those accomplishments and refining or re-imagining those areas in need of support to ensure every single student in our District experiences a sense of belonging, academic achievement, and pathways to reach their goals.

It is with deep gratitude to the entire CCUSD community for this opportunity to be your Superintendent. I am eager to meet as many of you as I can in the coming months. I am confident that our collaborative efforts and relationships built on trust and communication will lead to even greater success.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian Lucas,

CCUSD Superintendent
