USC football and women's volleyball have home games this weekend

If you are a USC sports fan this weekend is your ticket. The 6-1 Trojan football team takes on 5-1 Utah on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Coliseum and the 11-7 USC women's volleyball team faces Washington on Sunday at 2 p.m. inside the Galen Center on the USC campus. The USC women are 5-3 in the Pac-12.

The football game is the start of one of the Trojans toughest schedule runs in many years. Four of their last five games are against teams all ranked in the top 25 in the nation. The only team they play in the next month that is not in the top 25 is California. After the California game on October 28, they play Washington at home on November4, they travel to Oregon on November 11, and they battle the UCLA Bruins at home on November 18.

Last Saturday the football team was beaten by Notre Dame 48-20. All phrases of the team broke down, especially the play of quarterback Caleb Williams who had the worse game of his college career. All season everyone has pointed fingers at the defense but last Saturday it was a total team breakdown. Against a very good Utah team the Trojans must play at a high level on offense, defense and special teams are they will be looking at another demoralizing defeat.

The USC women's volleyball team is currently in fifth place in the Pac-12 at 5-3. In first place is Stanford, in second place is Washington State, in third is Arizona State and Oregon is in fourth place. The Trojans are led by All-American Skylar Fields, freshman London Wijay and Mia Tuaniga. Nine of the 12 Pac-12 teams have winning records. USC's fourth year head coach Brad Keller has the Trojans playing at a very competitive level so far this season.
