No. 10 USC travels to No. 21 Notre Dame on Saturday
October 12, 2023
The football game between the 6-0 USC Trojans and the 5-2 Fighting Irish will be televised on Channel 4, at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Trojans are coming off a 43-41 triple overtime win over Arizona last Saturday at the Coliseum and the Fighting Irish lost to Louisville 33-20 last Saturday. The game should be a hard-fought contest between two good college football teams. The Trojans are ranked No. 10 in the nation and the Irish are No. 21.
You can throw the rankings and the records out the window when these two teams play on the football field. The rivalry started in 1926 and this will be the 94th meeting. Notre Dame holds the edge over the Trojans 49-36-5. Between the two schools they have won 24 National Championships, they have 14 Heisman Trophy winners, 89 College Hall of Famers 1,076 players drafted into the NFL.
Last Saturday against Arizona the Trojans were down 17-0 at the end of first quarter but they were able to pull out the win in triple overtime. "It feels good to be 6-0," said USC's head coach Lincoln Riley after the game last Saturday. "There is a lot we need to correct and there are a lot of battles coming up."
USC quarterback Caleb Williams knows every team gets excited when they play USC. He scored the winning points in the triple overtime. "Every game we play everyone circles that game," said Williams after the win last Saturday. "You have to have mental toughness and keep fighting. That's what you do as a leader and the quarterback of this team. I am just doing my job. Whatever it takes to win the game. That's all that really matters at the end of the day."
The Trojans next home game will be a Pac-12 clash against No. 16 Utah at 5 p.m.
