Rams look to improve in week two against the Raiders

The Los Angeles Rams move into week two of the preseason with one thing on their minds. They need to improve after getting beaten by their Los Angeles rivals, the Chargers. The final score was 34-17 but it appeared like the Rams were a step behind the whole game in front of a lively crowd.
Now is the time to see if the Rams can improve against the Raiders on Saturday at SoFi Stadium at 6 p.m. "I thought there was some positives and there were some very correctable things that we can clean up," said Rams head coach Sean McVay after the game last Saturday. "We will look at the film and we will clean it up and keep moving."
In the Raiders first preseason game they looked like a team that is finally ready to battle the Chargers and the Chiefs for the title in the AFC West. It's only preseason but their 34-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers put them in the conversation as one of the most improved teams in the NFL.
If the Rams expect to compete against the Raiders, they will need to have better quarterback play in the beginning of the game. In the second half backup quarterback Stetson Bennett played well but football is a game of two halves. "It was cool," said Bennett. "It was fun to finally get out there and get hit. I feel like a football player again. It felt good to get out there and compete. I got more comfortable as the game went on."
The Rams defense and special teams also needs to improve before they take on the Seattle Seahawks in the regular season opener on Sunday, September 10, but safety Quentin Lake saw some encouraging moments last Saturday. "There was a lot of good energy on the field tonight," said former UCLA star Lake. "I think overall we had flashes of good things but obviously there are things we need to work on. I think it was good to see the younger guys like me get out there."
Lake, who played his high school football Mater Dei and his college football at UCLA is excited to be able to play professional football with the Rams. "It's good to be able to have my family and friends see me play. I am happy to be at home and just be able to enjoy the moment."
The Rams last preseason game will be against the Denver Broncos on Saturday, August 26, on the road at 6 p.m.
