The Rams traded one of their best defensive players, Jalen Ramsey #5, last week to the Miami Dolphins.

The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to trade defensive back Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2023 third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long, the team announced today.

"Jalen has been instrumental in our team's success during his time with the Rams and it was a privilege to be able to coach such an elite competitor and teammate," said Rams Head Coach Sean McVay. "His versatility, intelligence, and leadership put him in a class of his own. We will always be grateful for his impact on our organization and for his efforts in the Los Angeles community."

During his time with the Rams from 2019-22, Ramsey appeared in 57 regular season games (56 starts) and recorded 242 tackles (193 solo), 10 interceptions with 109 interception return yards, 47 passes defensed, 36 pass breakups, 2.0 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 17 pressures, 11 hurries and five quarterback hits. He played in six postseason games during his time in Los Angeles and helped propel the Rams to a Super Bowl LVI victory in 2021. Ramsey was a Pro Bowl selection in each of his four seasons with the Rams and earned First-Team All-Pro honors following the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Tight end Hunter Long was selected by the Dolphins in the third round (81st overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He appeared in 16 games (two starts) with 180 offensive snaps played in his first two seasons in Miami. During his collegiate career at Boston College, Long played in 36 games (14 starts) and recorded 89 receptions for 1,297 yards and nine touchdowns.
