Barbara Ford Sucumbs

Born Barbara Green in Mississippi, she was an Air Force brat. Barbara lived in multiple states and in England before settling down in Atwater, CA.

She loved being a small business owner and owned businesses for nearly 60 years. She and her first husband Douglas Ford opened DoBar Donuts in Atwater CA and also purchased The White Front Bar in Livingston CA. After moving to Westchester, Barbara purchased and ran Smart Set Travel in Culver City for 35 years. She had a passion for travel and traveled to many countries, by air or cruise ship. Her favorite places were Australia, New Zealand and Jamaica, Her most memorable adventures were traveling to Machu Picchu, The Great Wall of China and zip lining in Costa Rica.

Barbara was very involved in GOP politics for over 50 years. She met 4 presidents, worked on numerous campaigns and made many life long friendships. She was at Reagan's inaugurations.

She was fearless, had an open heart and an open door. She was well known for her 4th of July parties, and on New Year's Day anyone could come over for black eyed peas. She left the south but it never left her.

She married twice, to Douglas Ford and then Max (Zyb) Kaiser. Gale VorderLandwehr was a long time companion. She is survived by her younger brother, 3 daughters, 4 stepchildren, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Barbara always helped others when needed. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to be made in her honor to: Assisted Home Health & Hospice Foundation, 72 Moody Court, Suite 100, Thousand Oaks, Ca 91360

A celebration of life will be held on 1/28/23 from 2-4pm at the house of her dear friend Denny Schneider, 7929 Breen Ave., Westchester, CA 90045.
