A traffic accident in Culver City has led the arrest of an admitted Venice-13 gang member who was in possession of a stolen gun, 50 ID cards and 12 cell phones, authorities said.

The arrest was made around 8 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the accident scene near Centinela Avenue and Washington Boulevard, according to the Culver City Police Department.

“When the officers arrived, they determined that one of the drivers displayed the signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and placed under arrest,” CCPD said in a statement. “The suspect, an admitted Venice-13 gang member, was on active parole for robbery.”

Police said the suspect, a Los Angeles area resident, sustained injuries in the traffic collision and “was left in the care of a local hospital where he received further medical treatment.”

During their investigation, local officers found in the suspect’s vehicle a 9 mm handgun, which was reported stolen in 2021 out of Clayton, Missouri, “a substantial amount of fentanyl indicative of sales, 50 ID and access cards in other people’s names and 12 cell phones,” among other items, CCPD said.

This case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, police said.
