November 21, 1938 - October 21, 2022 Sandra Gail Segal (known as "Sandy" to all) passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 21 at the age of 83, at her home in Culver City. Born Sandra Frazin on November 21, 1938 in Chicago to Bernard Frazin and Beatrice Hurwich Frazin, Sandy grew up surrounded by extended family, with whom she remained close throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, Martin N. Segal; her children, Jeff, Ilene, and Bill Resnick; and her grandchildren, Lucy and Oliver Weiss; her sister, Roberta Aaronson; and several nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. Her parents and older brother Larry predeceased Sandy.

Sandy was a proud resident of Culver City, where she lived for most of her life, serving as a school nurse at Culver High for 30 years and as an active member of Temple Akiba. As school nurse, Sandy provided a safe and warm environment for students and later helped start a school-based youth health center, which provides medical and mental health services and now bears her name: The Sandy Segal Youth Health Center.

Prior to moving to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, where she earned her bachelor's in nursing, she lived in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Phoenix. As a teen, she was a writer for the Indianapolis Jewish newspaper, with her gossip column, "Scooting Around with Sandy." She loved tennis, bridge, theater, reading, dancing (especially with her husband, Marty) and travel - and most of all she loved being around others, hosting family and friends, and being of service.

In her early 70's, Sandy's memory began to fail, progressing to Alzheimer's Disease. Through the care of several dedicated professional helpers, who became an extension of the family, she was able to stay at home and lead as full a life as possible, keeping her joyful personality intact.

There was a funeral service on Thursday, October 27, at Hillside Memorial Park.
