With the help of a K-9 unit, Culver City police have arrested a man accused of robbing at gunpoint two people using a Chase Bank ATM on Sepulveda Boulevard last week.

The accused robber, 23-year-old Randall Wiley, was captured on September 1 after he crashed his car into a telephone pole while trying to evade officers, Culver City Police Department said in a press release.

According to CCPD, the suspect robbed two people withdrawing money from the ATM at 5670 Sepulveda Boulevard just minutes apart in the early hours of Sept. 1.

Using the suspect description provided by the victims, police officers found Wiley near Slauson and La Cienega Avenues but the suspect failed to stop, resulting in a car pursuit, police said.

"The suspect vehicle was pursued into Los Angeles where it collided with a telephone pole making the vehicle inoperable," police said. When the suspect, still armed with a handgun, began to ran away, the K-9 unit caught him, allowing officers to make the arrest, CCPD said.

"During the search of the suspect, a semi-automatic handgun was located," police said. A photo released by CCPD shows a handgun, three rounds of ammunitions and more than $1300 in cash.

Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and treated Wiley for "minor injuries sustained from the K-9 apprehension," police said. Wiley was treated and later released from a local hospital before he was booked on armed robbery charges by the CCPD.

Local police believe Wiley is "responsible for multiple previous armed robberies in Culver City," including two at the same ATM location in July and August.
