Debt-Free College Enrollment Fair

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and Boyle Heights Technology Youth Center are teaming up with Assemblymember Miguel Santiago to host a Debt-Free College Enrollment Fair in Boyle Heights this Friday, August 5, 2022, in celebration of the inclusion of AB 2266 (Santiago) in the FY 2022-23 State Budget. The “Free Community College For All” bill extends the LA College Promise program, allowing all returning full-time students to community colleges completely debt-free. A presentation on the popular transfer and certificate programs that East Los Angeles College (ELAC) has to offer, assistance with the community college application process, financial aid application information, as well as other resources, will also be provided during the event.

*Speaking Program will be outdoors in the BHTYC Courtyard and workshops and technical assistance will be in the BHTYC Building, 2nd Floor


WHY: Expanding free community college will encourage more students to attend community college at a time when enrollment is decreasing. In addition to community college, however, it is imperative to make college more affordable so that California has a more educated workforce. This plan is a major step toward a debt-free college for all.

[Note: Students who enroll in the Los Angeles College Promise Program will receive a free laptop and all LACCD students are eligible to receive a free LA Metro Tap card for the 2022- 23 academic year].
