Race Officially Starts for Culver City Council

The nomination period for Culver City Council candidates officially began this week even though four residents have already declared their candidacy for the two open seats on the Council.

The deadline for filing papers is Thursday, August 11 and Culver City residents who are interested in running for City Council will need to contact the City Clerk's office to schedule appointments to receive and return nomination papers and to review the requirements and deadlines for becoming an official candidate.

The four declared candidates include Freddy Puza, Denice Renteria, Dan O'Brien and incumbent Alex Fisch.

The nomination process requires a potential candidate to gather the signatures of at least 20 and 30 voters registered in Culver City. Potential candidates must be at least 18 years old, Culver City residents, and registered to vote in the city.


On November 8, local voters will elect two Council members to serve a term of four years.
