The Culver City Police Department is looking for a man who robbed at gunpoint a 79-year-old woman near the corner of Jefferson Boulevard and Indian Wood Road last Sunday.
The victim was sitting on a fire hydrant after walking her dog when the suspect approached the victim from behind, wrapped his arms around her neck and threw her to the ground, according to the police department.
“The suspect was holding a handgun in his left hand while forcefully removing the victim’s cell phone which was attached with a lanyard around her neck,” CCPD said in a report. “After removing the cell phone, the suspect then ripped the victim’s fanny pack off of her waist, which contained cash and keys.”
The suspect then fled eastbound on Jefferson Blvd., police said.
The Culver City Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the victim for non-life-threatening injuries she sustained during the robbery, police said.
The armed robbery occurred around 1:20 p.m. on July 3, said CCPD, who described the suspect as a black male with black facemask and black clothing.
Anyone with information related to this crime is urged to contact Sergeant Edward Baskaron at 310-253-6316 or the Watch Commander at 310-253-6202.
