ummer Concerts Return To Burton Chace Park

Free summer concerts return to Burton Chace Park this Saturday, July 15. If you had been in the Park yesterday you would have enjoyed a beautiful evening with temperatures in the mid-60s. You would have seen the tent being set up. You would have heard the Marina del Rey Summer Symphony in rehearsal led by Maestro Steven Allen Fox. A few miles away, Chorus Director Marya Basaraba was preparing the 65-voice SoCAL Chorale.

We are looking forward to presenting a concert of exciting new music from an unexpected source – video game music. Today, some of the most talented composers are writing symphonic and vocal music for video games, just as they have long done for movie scores. Several of the composers will be at the concert.

Gamers will recognize many of the selections from popular games including World of Warcraft, God of War, Lair, Star Wars: Old Republic, Afrika, Civilization IV and VI, Journey, Medal of Honor: European Assault, Everquest II, Lineage and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The concert will cap an afternoon-long celebration at the Park to kick off the new county initiative, MdR for All. Bring your picnic, a blanket, and a jacket (the ocean breeze can be quite cool once the sun goes down) and join us in the celebrations.

Admission to this concert is FREE - no tickets required

Seating is festival-style, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
