The USC women’s volleyball team will add graduate transfers Kelli Barry (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) and

Kalyah Williams (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly HS) to its fall 2022 roster head coach Brad Keller announced on Friday, May 27.

“We are excited to announce the additions of Kelli and Kalyah to our fall roster,” said Keller. “Kelli brings so much to the table both on and off the court. She has an infectiously positive attitude along with a great work ethic, that we feel will fit directly into our culture and team dynamics. Kelli has one of the purest passing platforms in the game—and she and I have previously worked together—so it’s fantastic that we get to reunite and bring her experience and knowledge to this program.”

Barry—a defensive specialist who played three seasons at UCLA and one at San Diego—helped the Bruins to a second-place Pac-12 finish in 2021 and was instrumental in USD’s NCAA regional semifinal run in 2018. As a freshman with the Toreros, she played in 29 matches and recorded 3.62 digs per set with 11 service aces. She had 17 matches with double-digit digs, including five over the 20-dig mark, and a career high of 28 digs (at Portland, Oct. 27, 2018). In 2019, she led the Bruins with 3.44 digs per set and ranked 10th in the Pac-12. She leaves UCLA having played in 45 matches and with a total of 350 digs and 16 service aces.

“Kalyah is an explosive and dynamic attacker who can terminate from a variety of spots,” said Keller. “She has a competitive nature that will give our team a different edge on the court. Kalyah plays this game with such maturity and passion, and we anticipate she will arrive and make an immediate impact on our team.”

Williams—a middle blocker with three years of experience at Washington State—completed her time in Pullman, Wash., with 438 kills (1.90 kps) and a .219 hitting percentage with 153 blocks (0.67 bps). Williams did not play and redshirted her freshman year (2018) but was one of the Cougars’ main point-scorers in her three seasons. Last fall, she played in 32 matches and collected 258 kills (2.26 kps) with a .276 hitting percentage and 83 blocks (0.73 bps). She had career highs of 13 kills and 15.5 points in a five-set win over Washington (Sept. 26).

Last year, the Women of Troy (15-15, 10-10 Pac-12) finished in seventh place in the final Pac-12 standings. Under second-year head coach Brad Keller, the Trojans signed the nation’s top-ranked incoming class of recruits according to PrepVolleyball.com, which includes Adonia Faumuina (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly HS), Rylie McGinest (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly HS), Jordan Wilson (Phoenix, Ariz./Hamilton HS), Madison Pietsch (San Carlos, Calif./Saint Francis HS), Dani Thomas-Nathan (Burbank, Calif./La Salle HS), Gala Trubint (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS) and Megan Verbiest (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Marymount HS).
