Two great acts coming in May performing their great hits for your enjoyment
Two musical legends that you don't want to miss are landing at The Canyon Clubs in May.
Bringing his World in Changes tour, Dave Mason will be appearing at the Saban Theatre on the 6th, and Mickey Thomas will be landing his Starship band in Agoura Hills on the 14th.
Mason, best known for his soulful voice and skilled guitar playing, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of the group Traffic, and continues performing as a solo artist all over the world.
In 1969, Mason left Traffic and since then has penned over 100 songs, has three gold albums: Alone Together, Dave Mason, Mariposa De Oro, and the platinum album Let it Flow, which contains the Top 10 hit "We Just Disagree."
In addition to cranking out hits, Mason has performed on or contributed to a number of famous albums, including: The Rolling Stones' Beggars Banquet, George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, Paul McCartney & Wings' Venus and Mars, and Jimmy Hendrix' Electric Ladyland. He is featured playing acoustic guitar in "All Along The Watchtower," which is a favorite in his live shows.
He'll also treat his adoring fans to songs like "Only You Know and I Know," "We Just Disagree," "Every Woman," "Feelin' Alright," among many others.
Thomas is the owner of the soaring voice that propelled Starship through the decades of the 80s and 90s. With his compelling and distinctive vocals, Thomas has established himself as one of Rock Music's most recognizable stars.
He made his mark in 1976 as lead vocalist on the mega-hit "Fooled Around And Fell In Love" with The Elvin Bishop Band. Three years later, Thomas joined the Jefferson Starship as lead vocalist after the departure of Grace Slick and Marty Ballin.
Backed by the power of Thomas' vocals, they immediately scored a #1 hit with "Jane."
With this new sound and powerful vocals, the group was renamed Starship and continued to record an amazing string of hits, including "We Built This City," among many others. They received an Oscar nomination for the #1 hit "Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now" from the film Mannequin.
Material covered in Starship's live performance ranges from Thomas' tenure with Bishop and Starship, as well as songs from his two solo albums.
