Victor Butler is believed to be the last surviving Tuskegee Airman in Rhode Island.

The veteran turns 100 on May 21, and he has only one wish: birthday cards. He’s asking people from around the country to send him birthday cards. It’s a small wish from a man who made a big impact.

The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of Black military pilots who made history fighting in World War II.

He told CNN, “Being in Tuskegee, Alabama, it wasn’t very acceptable to white people for Black soldiers to be walking around.”

These days, he passes time putting together puzzles. He told a reporter he’s looking forward to getting birthday cards.

“Oh, I’ll read every one of them,” he said.
