Earnest Sears III was named Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Week for April 11-19 as he won the Invitational Elite men's high jump competition at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 16 with the second-leading clearance all-time by a Trojan and equaled the 2022 world-leading height, it was announced today (April 19).

Sears III won the Invitational Elite men's high jump competition at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays with a personal-best clearance of 7-6.50 (2.30m). That clearance moved Sears III to second on USC's all-time outdoor high jump list, trailing only Jesse Williams who has the school record of 7-7.25 (2.32m) set in 2006. The 7-6.50 mark is tied for the world-leading height and also ties him for fifth all-time by a Pac-12 athlete. Finishing second in the competition at Mt. SAC was former two-time NCAA high jump champion Trey Culver.

It is the first Pac-12 weekly honor for Sears III and he becomes the second Trojan in 2022 to earn a Conference weekly award, as Celera Barnes was named Pac-12 Women's Track Athlete of the Week for March 21-27.
