Technicolor Creative Studios has announced it is planning to move to Culver City later this year.

The studio, which has contributed to films like "West Side Story" and the "Lion King" remake and creates special effects and animation, will occupy 60,000 square feet of production space over four floors at 8888 Washington Boulevard.

The studio is also building a 4,750-square-foot virtual production space next door at 8870 Washington Blvd., the company said.

The Technicolor Creative Hub is expected to open in July, starting an 11-year lease. It will house artists and technologists across the film, episodic TV, advertising and gaming industries. The company expects to host about 350 employees.

The French-owned conglomerate, Technicolor SA, currently has offices all over LA, including an advertising division in Culver City. Creative studios include Moving Picture Company, The Mill, Mikros Animation, and Technicolor Games.
