Hot Prowl' Burglary Suspect Arrested by Culver City Police

Culver City police has arrested a 23-year-old Los Angeles man in connection with a “hot prowl” burglary in an occupied local residence last week.

The burglary was reported on March 5 around 6:40 a.m. at a residence in the 4400 Block of Vinton Avenue, according to the Culver City Police Department.

The victim told police officers she was awakened by a noise coming from her closet. “Believing the noise may be one of her two children, the victim approached the closet,” police said in a statement. “As the victim got close to the closet, a male suspect abruptly exited, ran past her, and exited the house through the front door.”

According to police, the suspect stole an heirloom watch with the family’s name inscribed on the back.

Culver City detectives recovered video from the victim’s home surveillance cameras which captured the suspect climbing an exterior wall to get to the backyard then forcing open a back door to gain entry to the residence.

Utilizing their department resources, the detectives identified a possible suspect, who is currently on parole and wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department for robbery, CCPD said.

On March 8, Marvin Lemon, a 23-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was arrested by local detectives on burglary charges, police said.

“At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wearing distinct clothing matching the clothing worn by the burglary suspect in the aforementioned video,” CCPD said. “The suspect was also in possession of the victim’s watch with their family name inscribed on it.”

This case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, police said.

Anyone with any information about this case is urged to contact the Culver City Police Sergeant Eddie Baskaron at 310-253-6316.
