The Culver City Council will consider at its upcoming Monday meeting whether to maintain, modify or rescind the vaccine verification requirement in local businesses, civic officials said.

Last week, Culver City aligned with the County Public Health Department which issued a modified Health Officer Order lifting the mask mandate

Under the modified order, which took effect March 4, indoor masking is now strongly recommended but not required, for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in public settings and businesses, except in high-risk settings where federal or state regulations continue to require masking.

But Culver City's vaccine verification requirement remains in place for food and beverage establishments, gyms and fitness venues, entertainment and recreation venues, personal care establishments and city facilities.

City officials said vaccine verification will be on the Council agenda for discussion and community feedback. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. March 14.

Places where masking is mandatory in Culver City include public transit, transportation hubs, all health care settings (including long term care and adult and senior care facilities), correctional and detention facilities, homeless shelters, heating and cooling centers and emergency shelters. Masks are required while indoors at all schools until at least March 12.

Under the county health order, employers are required to offer medical grade masks and respirators to employees working indoors in close contact with other workers and customers in locations where masks are no longer mandatory.

The Public Health Department encourages residents to assess their personal and family risks when deciding whether to wear a mask.
