January 27, 2022

Los Angeles Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian in Venice last week.

The fatal collision occurred at 12:20 p.m. on January 21 at Venice Boulevard and Brenta Place, when an old, tan sedan traveling westbound on Venice Boulevard crashed into a male pedestrian standing in between the westbound #1 and #2 lanes, according to LAPD.

After the collision, the driver continued westbound Venice Boulevard without stopping, identifying themselves, or rendering aid to the pedestrian, said police officials.

The impact caused the pedestrian to land into the #2 lane where he was struck by an additional vehicle, described as a light colored 2012 Range Rover, LAPD said.

The driver of the second car also fled westbound Venice Boulevard without stopping, identifying themselves or rendering aid to the pedestrian. He was described by police as a male, approximately 20 years old, dark blonde hair, standing at 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, but the victim died from the injuries he sustained during the crash, police said.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise, LAPD said.

Anyone having information about the person of interest or the above hit and run vehicle is asked to contact Officer Yoshioka, LAPD West Traffic Division Detectives at (213) 473-0236 or (213) 473-0234 or Watch Commander at (213) 473-0562. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or go directly to http://www.lacrimestoppers.org.
