After a three-hour standoff, local police on Monday arrested a man who barricaded himself in a Culver City home after allegedly holding his ex-girlfriend hostage overnight.

Culver City police were called at 7:32 a.m. on December 13 to conduct a "welfare chase" at a residence in the 4000 Block of Lincoln Avenue, according to the Culver City Police Department (CCPD).

Police officers were met by a woman who related that her ex-boyfriend broke into her home on Sunday night and "held her hostage against her will throughout the night," said CCPD in a press release.

"At some point during the evening, the ex-boyfriend, forced the victim to drive him to a bank and had her withdraw money," police said. "They both returned to the residence and the victim continued to be held hostage."

Police said the woman managed to escape the suspect and meet with officers Monday morning.

The suspect then barricaded himself in the home and "threatened to shoot police officers if they entered the residence." CCPD dispatched its Crisis Negotiations and Emergency Response Teams who made contact with the suspect via telephone, police said. A police drone was also utilized by officers to monitor any development at the home.

"After more than 3 hours of negotiation, the suspect was convinced to exit the residence peacefully and was taken into custody without incident," police said.

The suspect was booked on multiple charges, including kidnapping, robbery, and assault, said CCPD. This case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
