Three great artist from the 80's will be playing at the Canyon Club
There are three great musical artists appearing at the Canyon Club venues. A Flock of Seagulls in Agoura Hills on December 10, and Jose Feliciano and Men at Work, December 17 and 18, respectively, both at Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.
English new wave and synth-posters, A Flock of Seagulls, have enjoyed a string of international hit singles, including "I Ran (So Far Away), "Space Age Love Song," "Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You," and more. They first became notable in the 1980's for their music video "I Ran," which received heavy airplay on MTV. The band also won a Grammy Award for their instrumental hit "D.N.A." They've been recognized as a pioneering act truly capturing the spirit of their time.
Feliciano, celebrating the holidays and the 50th anniversary of "Feliz Navidad," has also had an international presence that has influenced popular music for two generations. He's bridged musical styles in a way that has never been equaled and is recognized as the first Latin artist to effectively cross over into the English music market, especially with his cover of The Doors song, "Light My Fire."
Feliciano's accomplishments are highly celebrated - 45 Gold and Platinum records, nine Grammy Awards, 19 Grammy nominations, and the LARAS Award for Lifetime Achievement. He's performed for and with some of the most important musical groups like the London Symphony, LA Philharmonic, and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, among others.
He's appeared on major television shows worldwide, had his on specials, been in films and on stage. Coming soon is his new documentary on his life, featuring appearances by Gloria Estefan and Carlos Santana.
Men At Work, featuring founding member and frontman Colin Hay, became a globally successful Grammy-winning, multi-platinum selling act during the early 80's, playing hits like "Down Under," and "Who Can It Be Now."
Hay has also developed a solo career over the last 35 years, writing, recording, and touring extensively throughout the world as a solo artist. He is also presently part of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band.
