Cyclist Loses His Bike at Gunpoint in CC

A cyclist on a leisure ride on Sawtelle Boulevard was held up at gunpoint by another cyclist who stole his bike last week, Culver City police said.

The armed robbery occurred at 7:45 a.m. on October 21 near the vicinity of Braddock Dr. and Sawtelle Blvd., according to the Culver City Police Department.

The victim told police he was riding his bicycle on Sawtelle under the 405 freeway when the suspect, on a bicycle in front of him, "blocked his path and told the victim the bike belonged to his friend," police said said in a press release.

"The suspect then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim and told him to walk the other way or he would shoot him," police said "In fear for his life, he gave the suspect the bicycle and walked northbound Sawtelle and out of the area."

The suspect then rode his bicycle in tandem with the stolen bicycle southbound Sawtelle Blvd., according to police. He is described as a male, Hispanic, approximately 47 years old, 5'8" medium build wearing a black hat, white t-shirt, and a grey sweater.
