The highly anticipated pre-season coaching debut of legendary player and coach, Michael Cooper, took place this past weekend in Garden Grove. Cooper coached the Centaurs to a 4-0 record and a championship at the Aloha Challenge during a preseason tournament.

Cooper introduced his brand of fast paced, yet, controlled basketball with a heavy emphasis on defensive pressure and intensity. The offensive focused on appreciating each possession by creating quality opportunities to score with ball movement. Although it is only the preseason and this was the Centaurs first opportunity to play under Coach Cooper, no one can argue that they are off to a pretty good start.

This season's version of the Centaurs is led by three standout upper classmen – senior wing Jackson Hopps, junior wing Conner Scales and junior point guard Mateo Castro Jr.

The Centaurs open their regular season November 23, at Beverly Hills high school in a non-league showdow
