Weiner: what if you ordered a Lyft and received a 27-foot hot dog? Kristen Zeis

From the NY Post:

The iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is hitting the street like a dog in heat across select neighborhoods in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, surprising unsuspecting Lyft riders.

"Lyft has been helping riders get back to the summer fun they missed in 2020, whether you're headed to a family picnic, BBQ with friends, or attending a sports game or concert," said Ethan Eyler, Director of Brand Products at Lyft in a press release. "We're excited to hit the road with Oscar Mayer and surprise our riders with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate summer from inside the world-famous Wienermobile."

The 27-foot hot dog on wheels, "piloted by two five-star drivers, the Oscar Mayer Hot Doggers" will come equipped with "music, neon lights, free shirts, hot dog masks, and, of course, Weenie Whistles, all the way to their destination."

"Oscar Mayer has a legacy of elevating enjoyment from people's plates into pop culture - from our 27-foot long Wienermobile, to the iconic Weenie Whistle, to the famed 'Oh I wish jingle," said Oscar Mayer associate marketing director Megan Lang in a press release. "With the world as our canvas and meat as our medium, we want to do all we can to spark unexpected smiles wherever we go."

Before its current jaunt as an unanticipated taxi, the Wienermobile served as an Airbnb, a "setting for a marriage proposal and "traveled to Alaska via barge." This is its virgin run as a rideshare vehicle.

Last January, in a separate publicity stunt, Oscar Mayer sought individuals to drive the Wienermobile across the US. "We're eager to see who will cut the mustard in 2020 and travel the country on behalf of the Oscar Mayer brand," said Matt Riezman, the associate director of Oscar Mayer, heard using a pun that Oscar Mayer employees almost certainly hear 10 times per shift. "With 33 years under our belt, the Hotdogger job continues to be a highly coveted position."

The unannounced dirty water dog jalopy will be coming for app patrons who call a Lyft XL from Aug. 25 to 27.
