California State Parks Foundation Will Hold the launch of virtual Earth Day Climate Action

April 15, 2021

The California State Parks Foundation, a statewide member-supported nonprofit, and REI Co-op, the specialty outdoor retailer with 29 location in California, announce the launch of virtual Earth Day Climate Action, a month long activation to inspire California residents to complete a do-it-yourself (DIY) clean-up in their local communities and neighborhoods. Through this activation, REI and California State Parks Foundation will inspire 5,000 volunteers across the state to clean up their communities to bolster climate resiliency.

California residents can register online to participate in virtual Earth Day Climate Action month and receive a free Earth Day kit, available for pick up at their local REI store in California as supplies last. Each Earth Day kit includes a face mask, trash bags, REI coupon, stickers, and more. Participants are encouraged to use their Earth Day kit to pick-up trash at their local state parks, playgrounds, neighborhood parks, or even just their own backyards. When Californians help clean their neighborhoods, local open spaces, streets, and storm drains, they help protect our state beaches and state parks.

Would you be interested in sharing this activation with your audience to inspire more Californians to become DIY stewards this April? A full press release is below with more information. Please let me know if you have any questions, would like hi-res images, or would like to talk with a representative about this program.
