UCLA senior Pauline Tratz has been named the Pac-12 Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the third Bruin gymnast to win this award in the last four years. The award, which is presented in each of the 24 sports the Conference sponsors, was established to honor collegiate student-athletes who are standouts both academically and in their sports discipline.

Tratz, a native of Karlsruhe, Germany, is a Communications Studies major with a 3.86 cumulative GPA. A three-time WCGA Scholastic All-American, she was selected to the 2020 Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll and was a 2019 second-team Pac-12 All-Academic selection as a sophomore. Last year, she was named to UCLA's 2020 All-Academic Team, holding the highest cumulative GPA on her team, and she has received Director's Honor Roll distinction every quarter at UCLA. Tratz earned admission into the UCLA Communications Studies major, considered the most competitive on the UCLA campus.

On the floor, she has been an important scorer for the Bruins since her freshman year, helping UCLA win the 2018 NCAA team championship and the 2018 and 2019 Pac-12 team titles. She also won the NCAA Columbus Regional vault title and earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors on floor exercise as a freshman. This season, she has been outstanding, hitting every routine she has competed and recording season-highs of 9.875 on vault, 9.775 on uneven bars and 9.950 on floor exercise. She ranks seventh in the Pac-12 on floor exercise and won the Coaches' Choice Award this week after capturing her second floor exercise title of the season.
