The Los Angeles Marathon, which ends on Ocean Avenue just north of the Santa Monica pier, has been postponed to an uncertain date in late August or September.

The event had been set for March 21st..

"Given the current state of the pandemic in the Los Angeles area and pace of the vaccine roll-out, the Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K, the LABig5K and the Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS will be rescheduled for fall of 2021," said a statement from the LA Marathon.

On March 8, 2020, the LA marathon attracted over 25,000 runners. It proved to be one of the last large gatherings in the US before the worldwide pandemic shut down sports events across the country.
