Monday's brushfire was located in the scrap land just North of the 20 Freeway
11/16: Westbound lanes of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway were temporarily closed Monday afternoon as the SMFD extinguished a brush fire, the SMPD said.
It appeared to have started at a homeless encampment in the undeveloped land adjacent to the freeway offramp.
The fire was reported about 10:49 a.m. near Lincoln and Olympic. It was fully extinguished in less than an hour and did not extend beyond about an acre.
