In an effort to support restaurants in the eastern part of Culver City during this pandemic, the City Council has approved a temporary lane closure in the Arts District to accommodate outdoor dining as well as the installation of 2 city-sponsored temporary parklets in the parking areas on Culver Boulevard.

At its Monday night, the Council gave the green light for the temporary lane closure along westbound Washington Boulevard between La Cienega Avenue and La Cienega Boulevard in addition to a temporary closure of one side of Hargis Street between Washington Boulevard and the alleyway.

The street closures were requested by 3 restaurants on Washington Boulevard -- Brunello Trattoria, Industry Café & Jazz and EK Valley Restaurant, city staff said.

These temporary closures along with the parklets with barriers near Rush Street and K-Zo on Culver Boulevard will provide areas for expanded outdoor dining and services to support businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic, city officials said. The parklets are small seating and green space structures installed on parking spaces, separated from the street by barriers.

City official said the streets closures will last through the duration of Covid-19. A copy of the proposed street closure plan is available at culvercity.org.
