You Are “Safer at Home”

On March 20, 2020 the City issued a “Safer at Home” emergency order. All residents of the City of Culver City are required to stay inside their homes unless they are engaged in certain “essential activities” (such as grocery shopping or medical appointments). On those occasions when you are out of your home for necessary tasks, stay at least six feet away from others. Adults over age 65 and people with serious chronic medical conditions have a higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19 and should consider ways of getting food and other essential items brought to their door through family, neighbors, or delivery services.

Culver City Dial-A-Ride Changes Due to coronavirus COVID-19

Based on the March 20, 2020 City of Culver City “Safer at Home” Order calling for all residents to remain at home, the Culver City Dial-A-Ride Service will only be available for essential travel, which includes grocery shopping and medical appointments. All other requests will be declined at this time.

Riders who previously used Dial-A-Ride to pick up their meals from the nutrition program at the Culver City Senior Center can send a neighbor, family member or relative to pick up the meals, or contact the Senior Meals program at (310) 253-6712 to schedule the meals to be delivered.

Additionally, if any rider is ill or experiencing any signs or symptoms of illness, including those most common with the coronavirus (COVID-19), we ask that you not ride the Dial-A-Ride, but rather contact your medical provider for further direction or call 9-1-1 only if it is an emergency.

coronavirus Scam Alerts

The Culver City Police Department wants you to be aware that there are a growing number of scams related to the coronavirus. Here are some examples:

• VACCINATIONS & AT HOME TEST KITS: There are currently no vaccines or other over the counter products to treat or cure COVID-19. There also are no FDA-authorized home test kits for the coronavirus.

• FAKE CHARITIES: Some scammers use names that sound a lot like the names of real charities. This is one reason it pays to do some research before giving.

• HANG UP ON ROBOCALLS: Don't press any numbers. Scammers are using illegal robocalls to pitch various schemes.

• FREE PRODUCTS & SERVICES: Beware of any 'phishing' scams that offer free products and or services.

• SCAMS TARGETING SENIORS: Senior citizens are the most common targets for scammers, and especially vulnerable in these stressful times. Be extra vigilant when dealing with anyone soliciting money from seniors.

• EMAILS FROM UNKNOWN SENDERS: Don't click on links or open attachments from unknown senders. Scammers are circulating emails that appear to be from hospitals and health organizations.

Do You Need a Volunteer?

If you email or leave a message at the Hotline after hours, please include your name, address, phone number, email address, and your need. In an emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
