405 Freeway Shutdown in Long Beach and Carson

Fire personnel have been dispatched to a major fire at the Marathon Refinery near the 405 freeway. The fire has closed the 405 freeway from Carson to the 710 freeway in both directions.
The fire was reported at 1406 E. Sepulveda Boulevard, on the north side of the refinery complex, at approximately 10:50 p.m.
It is the largest refinery on the West Coast with a crude oil capacity of 363,000 barrels per calendar day.
The KTLA News helicopter was approximately 20 miles away when they saw the fire begin. The helicopter immediately flew to the scene and began broadcasting immediately upon arrival.
Reports are evacuations are underway.
