Culver High Has a Busy Post-Season

All Five Winter Teams Make Playoffs

Cara Conroy Makes the Block, Saving the Shutout

This coming week is going to be a busy one for Culver City High School bus drivers. Every team, this winter season has made their CIF SS Division playoff.

The Girls' Water Polo team finished second in Ocean League at 4-2 and 13-12-1 overall. They will travel north to Oxnard to play the Pacific View League second place finisher, Rio Mesa (19-9-0) (8-2) on Tuesday February 11 at 5:00 pm.

The Boys Varsity Basketball team finished third in the Ocean League at 7-3. They will start their Division 2A playoff run on the road Wednesday, February 12th, playing Santa Barbara High at 7:00 pm. The Dons won the Channel League (9-1, 18-8 overall) and come into the playoffs with a 4-game win streak.

The Centaurs will be led by scorer Sean Newman Jr. and by defenders Tyler Wiley and Quincy Lawson.

Our Girls basketball team finished second in the Ocean League at 8-2, 15-10 overall and will start their Division 2A playoffs hosting the Hacienda League's second place finisher, Walnut (14-11 overall), on Thrusday, February 13 at 7:00 pm in the Del Goodyear Gym. If they win, they will go on the road to play the Division 2A #1 seed, San Clemente (24-3) on Saturday, February 15 at 7:00 pm.


Both, Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer squads finished their Ocean League play strong. The boys routing Lawndale 6-0 and Beverly 5-1. The girls finished on the road by beating Hawthorne 6-0 and Beverly Hills 1-0.

The Boys Varsity Soccer finished second in the Ocean League (7-1-2) and (11-4-3 overall) and will host Fillmore (9-6-5 overall) the third place finisher in the Citrus Coast League, this coming Wednesday 2/12/2020 at Jerry Chabola Stadium at 5:00 pm.


Striker Hayden Brown leads the team in scoring with 16 goals and 4 assists (36 points) and midfielder Curtis Collazos 7 goals and 2 assists (16 points). Sophomore Gabriel Meijas has scored 6 goals (12 points) and forward Nico Gonzales-Cortez has 4 goals (8 points).

Girls Varsity Soccer (14-5-2) will travel to Downey (13-5-7) on February 13 for a 4:00 pm start.

The girls' strong defenders Victoria Martinez, Allegra Weil, Caley Coleman and Jordan Weiss along with agile goal keepers of senior Cara Conroy and junior Grace Dedeaux--have 13 shutouts to their credit and the team has outscored their opponents 54 to 10.


The team's potent scoring is spread out across their roster. Junior Emily de los Santos has 8 goals and 5 assists (21 points), senior Sierra Chabola has 7 goals and 6 assists (20 points) along with freshman sensation Lia Agapitos 7 goals and 4 assists (18 points) and sophomore Grace Weil 5 goals and 5 assists (15 points). Luna Chavez who was called up from junior varsity in the mid-season has added 3 goals.

Girls soccer hope to continue their playoff success from last year when they went all the way to the California State Finals.
