Developers returned to the table of public opinion Wednesday night to present to the 200 residents a revised plan for the development of the Jefferson/Sepulveda Triangle.
The proposed buildings were rearranged and the number of apartments on the top three floors was reduced from 279 units down to 250 with 11 units designated for affordable housing. In addition the project would include 55,000 square feet of ground floor retail and 50,000 square feet of office space.
The number of stories would remain the same with 5 stories above ground and two subterranean floors below ground for parking. Unlike the box style structure, the new plan involved a "softening' of the building to not appear like tower rising up in a neighborhood containing one and two story homes and shops.
While several speakers thanked the developers for the process of meeting and listening to the community the overall reaction was that the buildings were too tall and would exasperate the traffic problems, especially on Jefferson approaching Sepulveda Blvd where the traffic is already backed up.
The project is still a long way from being finalized, environmental and traffic studies will have to take place before the plans are presented to the planning commission and city council.
The Observer has learned unconfirmed reports that the Jefferson Post Office has been given a two-year extension on their lease.
Another community meeting has been scheduled for early next year.
