Lady Centaurs Make D III Final Four

The Lady Centaurs didn't lose their cool, last night when they fell behind Wilson's fast start in the first set 20-10. The team made the necessary adjustments to their game as Coach Tanner Siegal began to change up their defensive rotations to take advantage of the size of their talented blockers: Daina Monore, Jayli Nealy, Lauren Tishkoff and Sophia Muller. Culver, then went on an 8-1 run to close within three at 21-18 and were still behind 23-19 when they won the final six points to pull out the come-from-behind win, 25-23.

In the second game, Wilson led 20-17 and was serving when the Centaurs went on an 8-2 run to win the second game, 25-22.

Culver City fell behind again in the third set 10-3 and dropped the third game 13-25.

But, the Centaurs came roaring back in the fourth game took an early 6-2 lead and never let Wilson back into the game and closed out the match at 25-17 for the 3 games to one victory.

The Lady Centaurs have made the Final Four (semi-finals) in their divisions for the fourth straight year. They made school history by winning back-to-back CIF championships in 2016 and 2017.

The Centaurs (25-7) have their work cut out for them as they go on the road and play powerhouse Ontario Christian. The Knights (31-3) are unbeaten at home this year and are the 2018 defending Division III State champions.

The match at Ontario Christian this Saturday, November 2 starts @ 6:00 pm.
