California Outlaws Fur Trapping

Starting in November 2019 Phoenix, Arizona library system will drop overdue back fees.

It wasn’t that long ago the California Legislature passed and the governor signed a bill to ban commercial fur trapping.

Only one more state needs to okay the Equal Rights amendment to be added to the Federal Constitution. It would guarantee the same rights for women as for men.

UCLA turns 101 in May 2020.

Some people have all the nerve. Oklahoma City officials with the pension system for retired Highway Patrol Troopers and other law enforcement officers say the FBI is investigating after computer hackers stole $4.2 million.

The Times of Israel reported Iran has expressed willingness to increase its funding to Hamas from an estimated $8.3 million to $30 million a month. Now that’s a lot of money.

My, oh my, are my eyes correct? In 2020 the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center will be 30 years. I believe I’m correct when I remember in 1990 Andy D. Alexander called us together at Doctor Dana Russell’s home to get the ball rolling.

The telephone has been ringing off the hook by the many who knew my father. I am amazed by this resemblance of the veteran on the cover of the May/June 2019 issue of Disabled American Veterans (DAV). While I know it isn’t him, I just might frame the cover and hang it on the wall.

The State of Indiana is getting a $21.1 million grant to reduce its high rate of pregnancy related deaths.

Do you know where in our state is Cabrillo Beach located? If you said in San Pedro in Los Angeles County you would be right. But San Pedro leads the list of California beaches that saw the highest percentage of dangerous bacteria. The Environment American research and policy Center found Cabrillo had 85 unsafe days with 175 samples making Cabrillo the worst water quality place in our entire nation.

The Associated Press reported State District Judge Higginsbotham sentenced Sean-Paul Gott of Louisiana for a hazing death caused by alcohol. Sentence was thirty days behind bars.

Perhaps Cousin Neil should go to Cracker Barrel and purchase a porch rocking chair. It’s been 50 years since the Brady Bunch premiered on ABC. Totally unbelievable.

Recently, we were in up State New York and I missed a golden opportunity to drive a relative short distance to see the Lucy Desi Museum in her hometown of Jamestown, N.Y.

Some of us just might remember when President Obama’s executive order prohibited law enforcement agencies from obtaining military equipment. Just recently President Trump rescinded that executive order so it just might be a short period of time before equipment starts rolling in from military depots and warehouses.

Although I haven’t been asked yet, Sgt. Rubenstein is prepared to be a training non-commissioned Officer at Fort Culver City. Before physical training begins, I would like to order now -200 cases of pepper spray, gas masks, 150 bayonets, 170 side arms (such as 45 caliber pistols) 15 bazookas, 14 Armored Personnel carriers, 3 tanks, 150 AR15 and 150 AK47 rifles, 150 batons, 15 assault helicopters, 25 brass knuckles and finally 10 super mean junkyard dogs.

Of course, we know this is a “tongue in cheek”, but when the federal government sends those internment campers back to Latin American, there will be plenty of room for Democrats, Liberals and progressives. We must protect ourselves.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development said in a report, growth will slow to 2.9 percent in 2019 compared with an earlier forecast of 4 percent.

My friend who is known by his nickname, “inflamed tonsils” told me another rumor going around town. Word has its former Mayor Jim Clarke’s name just might appear on the next Culver City ballot for council. If I remember correctly, Jim was for awhile the chief of staff for Congresswoman Watson.

Deadwood, South Dakota is preparing to open a brothel museum.
