The Los Angeles Dodgers saw a possible run at a third consecutive World Series appearance come to an abrupt halt. With the score tied at 3-3, Washington Nationals infielder Howie Kendrick hit a grand slam home run in the top of the 10th inning in Game 5 of the National League Division Series to propel the Nationals to a 7-3 win at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Thanks to a pair of home runs hit by Max Muncy and Kiki Hernandez, the Dodgers led the Nationals, 3-1, going into the top of the eight inning. However, ace Clayton Kershaw gave up two home runs, and that allowed the Nationals to tie the ballgame. Two innings later, Kendrick came through with his heroics for Washington.
