Wyoming defensive back Allen Smith faces felony gun charges after he allegedly pointed an unloaded handgun at two people last week, according to the Casper Star Tribune.

Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl announced an indefinite suspension yesterday for the freshman defensive back from Culver City High.

From the Star Tribune: "According to an affidavit filed with the court, a Laramie police officer was dispatched around 11:46 p.m. Thursday to help the University of Wyoming Police Department investigate a possible assault that occurred earlier that day at the Verge Apartments. The officer spoke with two alleged victims, who told him they drove Smith to an apartment there so he could drop off some laundry.

"While driving through the parking lot of another apartment, Smith then asked the two people, identified in court documents only as T.R. and M.L., if they wanted to "see my gun," according to the affidavit. After going into an apartment and coming back with a gun in his hand, Smith opened the passenger door, pointed the handgun toward one of their heads and pulled the trigger four times, according to the affidavit."

Smith's legal counsel, Jason Tangeman, told reporters that it was an airsoft gun and that his client disputes the allegations that he pointed a gun or threatened others.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound freshman played in two of Wyoming's games this season, according to the school.

"He made 44 tackles, including 28 solo tackles his senior season for the Centaurs," Smith's official Wyoming bio reads. "Smith intercepted two passes his senior season, returning them for 35 yards, broke up six other passes and forced two fumbles. He also returned 13 kickoffs for 390 yards, averaging 30.0 yards per return with a long return of 93 yards, and returned seven punts for 170 yards, averaging 24.3 yards per return with a long of 55 yards. On offense, Smith caught four passes for 33 yards, and he carried the ball four times for 83 yards. He concluded his senior season with 711 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns -- one TD rushing, one on an interception return, one on a kickoff return and the final one on a punt return. He helped the Centaurs to a 12-3 overall record and a 4-1 record in the Ocean League for a second-place finish."
