Carpenter Named Principal of Linwood E. Howe Elementary School

CCUSD Superintendent Leslie Lockhart today announced the appointment of Eva Carpenter as principal of Linwood E. Howe Elementary School, effective immediately.

Carpenter began her career in the Los Angeles Unified School District 24 years ago. She has worked as an LAUSD classroom teacher, Literacy Coach, Response to Intervention and Instruction Expert, and Categorical Program Advisor. She was an Assistant Principal at LAUSD's Manchester Avenue Elementary and Principal at LAUSD's Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary. Most recently she served as a district Elementary Literacy Coordinator, serving 96 elementary schools in the LAUSD system.

"I am thrilled to be joining CCUSD and the Lin Howe family in particular," said Carpenter. "My philosophy of education is best described as one that advocates for children to learn by doing. I believe that children must be active participants in their own learning process."

"We are very excited to have Ms. Eva Carpenter join our CCUSD team," said Superintendent Lockhart. "Her extensive background in literacy and more than five years of experience as a site administrator will be a great resource for the staff of Linwood E. Howe. Ms. Carpenter has a strong collaborative spirit and brings with her a strong commitment to student success."

Carpenter earned her bachelor of arts degree in English from Loyola Marymount University; her master's degree in Education (Counseling) from California State University, Dominguez Hills; her master's degree in Education, and her master's degree in Educational Administration from Pepperdine University.

In addition to being a busy and highly motivated educator, she is married and mother to 3-year-old Lailah, who will also join the CCUSD family of schools. Carpenter enjoys cooking, entertaining, reading, traveling and spending quality time with family and friends.
